It’s well-known that consumers have long preferred mobile apps over websites for online shopping.

When developed properly, mobile apps feel more fluid and pleasant to browse, and payment at the check out is frictionless. Being installed on the user’s phone also makes it easier to revisit the merchant’s store. A mobile app takes just a tap on the app icon to launch. A website, on the other hand, requires opening the browser and entering the right URL.

Yet while many retailers have started to sell goods on their own e-commerce websites or marketplace platforms, e-commerce mobile apps continue to remain a cost and technological barrier for most small and medium (SMB) retailers.

By being on a marketplace, a merchant is not owning their business. They can’t build their own brand or marketing promotions the way they may want to. They remain a merchant in a sea of many, where customers can easily compare by price. The visibility of their products is also susceptible to the marketplace’s search algorithm. There are less ways to connect to the consumer to build brand loyalty.

There are people who make genuinely good products, and we want to help these independent merchants to maximize the reach to their addressable market by making their products available  on best channels.

Therefore, we’ve made it our mission to create and offer Shopora, an e-commerce solution, to give retailers an easy way to have their own mobile app to sell their goods. We envision a world where even the smallest retailers can have their own apps for iPhone, iPad, Android and website to sell their products and run their promotions, standing out from crowded marketplace apps.
